Linoleum block printing has been around for centuries, but I have noticed, with the new resurgence of other ancient crafts, that it has become popular again- I absolutely love the simplicity and beauty of this technique. And, its easy to do at home! You just have to carve one block and then you're off- stamp it over and over to create gorgeous patterns. In, fact, you can find an online tutorial here.
I can't wait to do some block printing on tea towels and maybe some pillow cases-or cards! Yay!

A great resource for hand printing techniques is Printing by Hand: A Modern Guide to Printing with Handmade Stamps, Stencils, and Silk Screens by Lena Corwin, available here.
I am also so in love with the block printed look of all the linens and paper goods at Les Indiennes,
(Originally blogged by Poppytalk Handmade). I am so inspired by their beautiful patterns, please enjoy some samples from their online flip book below.
