Dear Dad...

Yep, I am hijacking my usual Dear Husband post this week. Today is my Dad's birthday, so the hubs will have to take a backseat on the blog today so I can celebrate the very first man in my life. 

Dear Dad...

Things that are so special about you: you have the world's biggest heart, and do so many things for others. you are a true Renaissance man- you can paint, draw, sculpt, restore a car, play the guitar, run 2 fabulous restaurants, sing, do marathons and tri-athalons, practice law, make killer breakfast, design our house remodel...I could seriously go on forever.

Thanks for being an amazing dad and someone I always look up to. I am so lucky to be your little peanut.

Happy independence day!

Just a few snaps from our 4th of July celebration in good ol Lubbock, TX. Donuts, flags, friends & family, a hometown parade, a few bloody marys & lots of red white & blue. Good times!

My Dad

Since I was out of town over the weekend, this is a bit late...

Happy belated Fathers Day to the best Dad in the whole world! I love that we are so alike and that I get so much of what I love from you (like art and music.) I am so proud of all you accomplish- from your tri-athalons to remodels to the fabulous restaurants- you are amazing. Thank you for singing "Back to the House at Pooh Corner" and James Taylor songs to me when I was little, thank you for being patient while I was the world's worst driver, thank you for teaching me to be tough and a hard worker. Thank you for your kindness, support, jokes, hugs and unending love. I could go on and on. You are my hero and my rock. Love you Daddy.

What the what? (Dallas Rock n' Roll Half Marathon)

Do you ever think something sounds like the most genius idea you've ever heard, only to wake up the next morning thinking "Um, wait....what?" Yeah that just happened to me. Mom and Dad were in town yesterday, and we went to yummy Maggiano's for dinner. OMG- I wanted to crawl into my Chicken Parm dinner and live in there. Yummo.

Anyway, did I mention that Mom and Dad are Marathon Runners & Tri-athletes? Yeah, they pretty much rock. Mom qualified for the Boston Marathon this year (that will be her 9th marathon) and Dad will be doing the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon too. They are my heroes.

So we are at dinner last night, stuffing our faces with pasta, and I am talking about my 30 before 30 goal to do a 5k. And somehow it progressed to discussing the Dallas Rock n' Roll Half Marathon. And then when we get home, & husband and dad sign both the hubs and I up! Wait, what?

I am equally excited and nervous. I love to exercise, but I am not a runner. I tend to stick to spinning and yoga, so this is a definite departure. But husband is an amazing motivator, and I love the idea of doing a race with my parents. And I am committed to the Komen cause- which makes it even better.
Holy crap-here we go! 

Now the hubs and I are off to get fitted for proper running shoes...

My AWESOME In-Laws & Brother & Sister-in-Law + Lots of Naps + Roaring Fire + Watching the Doggies Play & Nap + Homemade Fudge + Awesome Presents from Santa + Crazy Chinese Gift Exchange + PIE! + Silly Antler Hats + My Sweet Hubs = Super Fab Christmas.

The only thing missing was my parents, brother and sis in law, and my side of the family. I am so blessed to have so many people I love in my life.
I hope your holiday was full of yummy food, loved ones and fun.

P.S. No outfits of the day over the holiday...I pretty much wore yoga pants, my fave Gap boyfriend sweater and no makeup the entire weekend. Not exactly OOTD material.
