Plastic Fantastic!

Ok, 3 things: 1. I am a bad blogger and should be banned from blogland for not posting anything in a billion years. 2. Tomorrow is my birthday, so I have forgiven myself for #1. 3. I can't wait for our Girls' Craft Night on Thursady! We get together once a month, these crafty girls and me, to make something fun and have wine and chattter. Geoff calls it "Hen Night." Anywho, this week we have decided to try fusing plastic bags and making them into totes. I had never even heard of such a thing until it was suggested as a theme. There is a great tutorial on Etsy Labs (here) to show you what I'm talking about. And posted below are some examples of what some crafty critters from Etsy have made using this technique. I will post pics of our (hopefully attractive) creations on Friday. Enjoy!!

Grace Pfeiffer Pfotography

My last post got me thinking about other wedding stuff, which led my brain straight to thoughts of my friend Grace. Talented, beautiful Grace. If you don't have the pleasure of knowing her, Grace is an amazing photographer who shoots all sorts of things- portraits, landscapes, textures, and, of course, weddings. Wedding-Schmedding...I want the cake!

This post may seem very random since I will not be taking a walk down the aisle soon (stop hyperventilating Geoff!) But, I have been bombarded with wedding cakes lately. Everyone I work with is getting married. Weddings, at least in my mind, conjure up images of cakey, yummy goodness. And a woman in my office has had me printing pictures of cakes she has made for weddings. And I have been watching "Ace of Cakes" quite a bit. And cake chases away the Wednesday blues. And I am having a birthday next week, and birthdays equal cake. So, with all of that in mind, here is a roundup of wedding cakes that I love. I can't believe they can make such beautiful creations with flour and some icing. I wish one of these could be my birthday cake, but, unfortunately I am not starring in an episode of "My Sweet Sixteen" on MTV...Please to enjoy....

I Heart Art Chix Studio

Anyone who knows me knows I love anything with the Virgin Mary on it. I love the religious candles the sell in import shops for $1. I would also like to say that I am not Catholic, and though I am spiritual, I have no real reason for my love of these other than the artwork and detail on them. Which is why I adore these little Dream Boxes made by artists using materials found at ArtChix Studio. Like your own little personal shrine to something, made for no other reason than to be beautiful. And ArtChix Studio has everything you need to create these tiny masterpieces-from the boxes themselves, to stickers, charms, and all kinds of ephemera to add. I can even see these as gorgeous little Christmas decorations or gifts. Maybe I can talk my Craft Night Group into this project...
