Honey Bun (30 for 30 Day 26)

Good morning! Its finally Thursday. Woot. (But since I have tomorow off its my Friday!) I totally need that extra day to get caught up and finish all my little Christmas elf errands. My shopping is all done but need to finish some wrapping & other little projects. I actually feel like I am on top of things this year- which is toally rare.

And husband's parents are coming to visit on Saturday! We can't wait. I am so blessed to have in laws that I love spending time with-they are hilarious and so so so much fun.

So that's me in a nutshell right now. Fascinating? Time Person of the Year Material? Um, No. But we in the bloggy wold can't be interesting all the time right? That's just too much pressure.

As is doing my hair somedays. I just can't be counted on to be perfectly coiffed at all times. Sometimes its a miracle if I make it out of the house fully dressed with any makeup on. As I was fixing my hair I remembered Miss Sydney at The Daybook posted a fun tutorial for her "Carrie Bun" so I gave it a go. And kind of loved it. So what if the hubs says I look a bit like Mrs. Garrison from The Facts of Life? I think I look like a ballerina. (Maybe my ballet name could be "Grey Goose" instead of "Black Swan"...seems much more fitting...)

7 Things (& 30 for 30 Day 22, 23, & 24)

Happy Happy Monday to you all! How was your weekend? I have to say, Friday was one of the best days ever- everyone seemed to be in the Holiday spirit. I took a little trip over to Northpark to pick up a few things & I swear people were smiling and chatty and happy left and right. And I got about 12 compliments on my fave turquoise shoes. And a compliment on your shoes always slaps a smile on your face, right? Right. 

Also, I have been tagged!! In my couple of years of blogging I have never been tagged by another blogger on anything. And now I've been tagged by 2! Thank you to lovely Jen over at Pretty in PDX and Jo at Daily Haiku for asking me to share. Here are 7 things about moi:

1. I have had 7 car wrecks- all of them my fault. And I smashed up a Vespa while studying abroad in Sicily.

2. When I was in 4th grade I took sewing classes and made my own clothes for fun. See photo evidence below. Yeah, I made that.

3. Hope this next one isn't odd to share, but I don't think it should be embarrassing as lots of people deal with the same thing everyday. I have had terrible skin for most of my life. And I tried everything to get rid of my acne. Finally, this past year, I had a series of 10 painful laser treatments and now I have perfect clear skin! Uncomfortable? Yes. But so worth it.

4. My husband is my best friend. (Ok, so this may not be crazy or weird or unexpected, but its true. And awesome.)

5. I have a terrible sense of smell. Most of the time, I can't really smell anything. I think its related to my allergies and what the Hubs refers to as my "Alien Nose Polyps."

6. I'm addicted to Audiobooks. My Audible subscription is one of my most favorite things ever. Its the only thing that keeps me from getting road rage (see #1.) Fave Audible listens: Life of Pi, The Forgotten Garden, The Girl Series & Her Fearful Symmetry.  

7. My hands-down, all-time favorite food is cereal. Actually, I am eating it for dinner right now. 

Ok, I have to say, I am a remix slacker. I blame the cold/strep/sinusitus I've had for a month. Nobody wants to see some lady in her sweats. But now I'm back in full force & ready to do this thing! Check out Days 22, 23 & 24...

Hoot. Woot. (30 for 30 Day 21)

The alternate tile for this post was "Back in Black." But then I changed my mind. (Because Hoot & Woot rhyme. And we found an owl to take pics with. And thats awesome.) Or maybe "Sinusitis-Rex," which is what the hubs has been calling me while I am sick. Either way, I'm trying to fancy up this plain-jane ensemble with a sassy title. Is it working?

And do you like my new, darker, a-shade-not-from-nature hair color? I haven't decided what I think about it yet, but its supposed to wash out in a month, so I guess if I decide I hate it its no biggie.

Now off to eat homemade pot pie and watch Wheel of Fortune with my hubs.

30 for 30 Day 20 & Cute Holiday Cards

Good Monday morning pretties! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I know I sound like a broken record, but I'm still sick. Trust me, I'm as tired of it as you are. But I drug myself to a doc yesterday and now have an arsenal of meds to get me better. Here's hoping I'm back to my old self soon- I'm really not loving the red nose and glazed expression in my last several outfit posts.

I generally hate being stuck in bed all weekend long, but I didn't mind so much this time- I actually did a lot of my Christmas shopping online. I also picked out our Christmas cards at Shutterfly. (I have used them for several books I have made for Geoff and really liked the quality.) Being a designer, I generally like to design things myself, but this year its just too busy. Plus, they have such cute designs and the process is so easy so I really couldn't say no. And to top it off, the are offering 50 free cards for bloggers- which is perfect because I was going to use them anyway and now I can get my cards for free!

I love the idea of having a photo card every year- then when we are old and gray we can look back and see how much we changed every year. Plus, this year will be our first card as a married couple, so I am going to use one of our wedding photos. Sweet right?

I think we are going to go with the Frosted Glass Monogram Flat card for ours- I think it will look really elegant with a wedding photo, plus I like using my new monogram whenever possible. I'm also thinking of doing some cute photo calendars for family gifts.

Finally, this is what I put on for lunch with my family on Sunday. It was chilly and I wanted to be comfy and cozy-so I turned to my fave black boyfriend cardi and a warm scarf. When we got home from lunch we did a little backyard photoshoot before I put my sweats back on and headed to the doc. Our little Boo Calvin wanted to be in the pics (but he really doesn't like being held.) Check out pic #2-he's totally sticking his tongue out as he struggled to get put down-I almost dropped him. He's so awkward. I guess he gets that from me...
